Hi there, omnacortil is prescribed to patients with asthama, allergy or many other conditions which may cause heavy breathing. Omnacortil is a steroid and as all steroids go they have certain side effects like Cushing's syndrome and growth retardation in childn; osteoporosis, fractures, Peptic ulceration; glaucoma, cataracts; hyperglycaemia, pancreatitis; increased appetite, obesity. Thinning and atrophy of skin, Rash, allergic reactions, pruritis etc.Potentially Fatal condition like acute adrenal insufficiency precipitated by infection, trauma or surgery in patients on long-term therapy or following cessation of such therapy. A dose of 10 mg for 10-15 days may not cause serious problems and it may be safe to take it if it is giving symptomatic relief to the patient. Care should be taken to not stop the medication abruptly and to taper the dose over a period of time which your physician will do.
