Suffering From Headache Due To A Bruise

Ok, so I got up in the middle of the night & got orhtostatic. For the first time ever I fainted, hit my head on counter & floor & bit my lip. I'm bruised pretty good, & still have a headache. I'm also a kidney patient, dialysis starting at 15 from mpgn type I, and being relisted for a third transplant at age 36, though scr only in the mid 2 range at present. HgB last 8.8, two weeks ago -have since had an aranesp injection 60 mcg. BP has been good. PTH backin 150s. Should I be concerned about head injury?

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. Your head injury seems mild. This is because you are having only headache and bruise. There is no loss of consciousness, vomiting, fits or loss of memory. You are able to write the question.

My advise is "do not worry". However you should worry about the fainting attack. Discuss it with your doctor whether it was only orthostatic hypotension or some electrolyte/glucose imbalance.

For headache and bruise, you can follow few tips

- You can apply icepacks at bruise site.
- Avoid pressure at bruise and pain site
- Take tablet paracetamol tablet after consulting your doctor. Avoid NSAIDs for pain.
- You can apply diclofenac gel at pain site.
- Keep your head at higher level than chest to relieve swelling.

Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
