Suffering From Erectile Dysfunction. Diabetic, High BP. Taking Caverject. How Does This Affect Erection?
HELLO MY NAME IS MERV I WOULD LIKE YOUR ADVICE ON CAVERJECT I SUFFER FROM ERECTLE DISFUNCTION , I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND AM A DIABETIC FOR 20 + YEARS (WELL CONTROLLED BY TABLETS) NAMELY DIAPHORMIN 500 MG 2 TIMES A DAY I ALSO HAVE HAD BLOOD PRESSURE FOR APPROX THE SAME TIME ( WELL CONTROLLED AS WELL ) ISOPTIN SR 240 MG 1 IN THE AM. I HAVE HAD MANY CAVERJECT SELF INJECTED INJECTIONS WITH SUCCESS IN THE START WITH 2.5 DOSES INCREASIN TO 5.0 IT DOES NOT WORK AT THESE DOSES SHOULD I TRY 7.5 AS I AM VERY WORRIED THAT MY ERECTION ( IF ANY ) MAY LAST LONGER THAN 4_5 HOURS ALSO COULD YOU PLEASE DISCRIBE HOW CAVERJECT MAKES THE PENIS ERECT. Hello,
CAVERJECT( ALPROSTADIL ) is a prostaglandin and is used to dilate the blood vessels in muscles of penis,so that there is increased flow of blood in penis resulting in engorgement of penis which ultimately causes hardness and erection of penis.
You get erection in 10-15 minutes after the injection and the effect lasts for appox.one hour.
You have to make sure that you dont consume more drug so as to avoid persistent erection lasting beyond 4 hours becausebsuchna situation may result in permanent damage of muscles and permanent erectile dysfunction.
As far as your dose is concerned,you may take higher dose of 7.5mg,provided your erection is lasting much less than 1 hour with present dose.
You may discuss with your doctor about this.
