Suffering From Dry Cough, Difficulty While Breathing. Taken Antibiotics. Suggest A Good Treatment?

Hi! Starting with December I have had an old sinusitis , again! I got 2 series of antibiotics and it has been calmed down. Afterwards, I got crackles, on expiration, I can hear without stethoscope(for me seems to be because extra mucus from trachea and bronchi). I used to smoke until 2 years ago when I quit). I have dry cough like smoker s coughing especially when I am laid down/back. When I doing exercises I am starting coughing and I have difficulties to breath. What should I do ? I tried without any improvement: session of Xyzal, and prednisone .

Dear Bogdan, hello
Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is very distressing. As you had history of smoking, the condition is more problematic. Infection of the lower respiratory tract is common in this condition. This will be treated by taking antibiotic. But please take full course of antibiotic under medical supervision.
For breathing problem, taking bronchodilator with the Nebulizer is more effective and safe as compared to oral medication. Consult medical guidance to select nebulizing solution for you after your full examination.
Steam inhalation will also help to some extent.
Avoid doing heavy exercise until your breathing problem is cured as exercise will increase your respiratory discomfort.
Hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
