Hi there,
Thanks for your query.
I feel that the doctor is justified in ordering digestive tract camera to assess the extent of involvement and also confirm the diagnosis, before he starts
Humira.
Please note that HUMIRA is indicated for reducing signs and symptoms and inducing and maintaining clinical remission in adult patients with moderately to severely active
Crohn’s disease who have had an inadequate response to conventional therapy.
But the flip side of it is Humira's serious side effects such as, serious infections and even malignancies, apart from other serious ones. Hence, he is apparently evaluating if the beneficial effects of Humira would justify the risks of side effects.
So, I too agree with your daughter's treating doctor. It is however your legal privilege to accept or reject his decision.
Consult your doctor and discuss the potential side effects of Humira and whether he would consider giving it after evaluating the findings of the digestive tract camera.
