Migraine medications are divided into those that stop the symptoms of the present headache and those that prevent headaches from occuring.
First you should try to avoid anything that may trigger a headache.
If you develop a headache then pain medication can be used, they are divided into those for moderate, severe and extremely severe pain
.Some of those for moderate and severe pain are the NSAIDS (cataflam, ibuprofen, celebrex), sumatriptan
Preventive therapy is considered if the headaches occur more than twice a month, duration of each attack is more than 24 hours, headaches cause major disruption in your lifestyle with disability for 3 days or more, medication for the pain fails or is overused, having to use pain medication more than twice a week.
If any of the above appy to you , you should consider speaking to your doctor about using preventative medication
