Suffering From Anemia, What Is The Reason For Green Stools?

Hi, This is Ganesh. I have been suffering from anemia, iron deficiency. When I consulted a doctor, she checked my tongue. It was in pale white colour. Doctor told that it is due to iron deficiency and advised me to take Raricap Forte (Iron-25 mg and Folic acid- 0.3 mg). After using 6 pills, today I got green stools after having a lot of water and butter milk. What could be the reason for green stools?

Dear Friend.
Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
First of all, you should work up to rule out the cause of iron deficiency.
Taking iron supplement simply is not a cure.
You should get following investigations:
1. Hemogram
2. Blood picture
3. Iron studies.
4. Stool for occult blood and parasites.

Change is stoll consistency and color can be due to supplements you are taking.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any query you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
