Suffering from a heart with leaking valves. Getting treated for fluid in the lungs. What are the treatment options?

My mother is 69 and she is in the hospital.. The doctor told her that her heart is at 20 percent with two leaking valves and no blockages .. He told her today he wouldn t suggest any surgeries or any other treatment and she would probably be dead within a year and then left the room. The primary doctor who is treating her in the hospital for fluid in the lungs and blood pressure came in and said the doctor should not have said and done what he did.. The treating doctor said of she follow her orders and meds she could stabilize and live longer .. We the family now is so confused..

Cardiologist 's  Response
As per your saying your mother may suffering from cardiomyopathy which means disorder of cardiac muscle . In this heart muscle weakens and the pumping function of heart decreases and heart become dilated , this leads to leakage of heart valves , conjestion of lungs with water. This can be treated with medications like diuretics and ace inhibitors. As such there is no specific surgery for this, you can consider newer treatment s like CRT, cardiac transplantaion if possible. With medication she can be symptomatically
