Suffering From Myasthenia Gravis, Have Bright Spots On Eye With Double Vision. Doctor Visit Required?

Hi, my husband has Myasthenia Gravis and at 5pm yesterday he said he had bright spots/haze in his left eye. I checked and his left eye appeared to be larger than his right eye, he said both eyes had the bright spots within ten minutes. He hates going to the hospital and minimises his symptoms often. He said this morning his eyes were bad with the double vision. He had ivig on Saturday so approx 48 hours before this new symptom came on. Does he need to go to the ER about this? Thank you Jo

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello

It seems from the history that you are having myastehnia gravis a autoimmune disease.
The onset of symptoms like double vision indicates fatigue of the muscles of the eye as a result of myastehnia gravis.
The treatment of the condition is by treatment of myasthenia gravis. Since it is common to see these problems you need to consult ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment.

Thank you

Ophthalmologist Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash's  Response
Since apatient of myasthenia gravis a neuromuscular disorder ,hewill have generalised weakness of muscle. In this he will have weekness of eye muscle. He is having diplopia due to this. He is on intrraveinous imunoglobin therapy. By eye size you mean pupil? This is again involvment of iris and ciliary muscle. In his next visit he should inform the doctor about these problems.
