Suffer From Varicose Veins, Reddish Discolored Bumps On The Leg. Need To Get Checked?

Hi I am male 49 years old. Seems to be varicose veins on right leg with some raised bumps on leg with slight discoloration toward the ankle and foot. I picked at a scab (or so I think it was) on my leg above my ankle and it gushed blood. I would guess 8 oz in less than 30 seconds. I have applied direct pressure and it has slowed considerably. Then I have wrapped it with one of those stretch type cloth bandages with a bit of pressure and it has not bled through the bandage. I will be making an appointment with a doctor tomorrow. My question is what could be the case and do I need medical attention right now? Also, I have had 2 glasses of wine tonight which I understand can thin your blood. Thank you for your help. Jeff

The reddish discolored lumps on the legs seem to be due to varicose veins itself. It can be relieved by using a compression stocking and if the symptoms are persistent, surgery is recommended.
