Common causes of chest pain as you describe could certainly be either of pulmonary origin or cardiac origin. Pulmonary causes could be chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis
, pleuritis or a pneumonia. Smoking predisposes you to develop respiratory infections, emphysema and lung cancer
. Cardiac causes like pericarditis
and angina pectoris
could mimic these presentations. A chest X ray could be necessary to make this distinction and orient on prescription of other investigations like sputum exams and bronchoscopies, endoscopic exams of the lung trees if necessary. I suggest you consult a pulmonologist
for a proper evaluation.
