Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. It seems like you have a kind of dysosmia called phantosmia. You will experience a gradual improvement over time and you will have to wait. Several medications, including sedatives, anti-depressants and anti-epileptic drugs, have been suggested to treat olfactory distortions, however you might do well with just time. This kind of condition can happen due to many reasons, most commonly an upper respiratory tract infection. I would like to reassure you that it is benign and you do not have to worry about anything bad happening to you.

If things do not get better over time, you might have to visit with a neuropsychiatrist to find out what kinds of treatment you can get for your condition.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a lovely day!
