Stitched Belly Button After Surgery. Rashes, Itchiness Around The Area. Infection?
Hello dr,
I have a stitched belly button after a surgery I had a week ago. The stitches are internal. They are dissolvable too... But for the past three days the are around is very very itchy and it I think I develope a rash. Not sure it's from me itching it so hard or if there is something more serious I should be concerned about. I'm scared now it would be an infection and don't know what to do cause I went to another country.
Hi, Thee are several possible causes for the itching like healing wound, allergy to dressings and tapes, dryness of the area and lack of ventilation owing to the dressing and sweat and dirt. Get a check up with your consultant. Simple remedies like removing the dressing and proper cleaning and use of antihistamines should suffice. If the wound has healed, local application of calamine lotion or olive oil will help in relieving the itching and dryness. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
