of the fingers is an ominous finding in RA. You need to get blood serology done for Anti-CCP antibodies
, which is specific for RA.
Other conditions can be isolated osteoarthritis
or mono-arthropathy. An X-ray of the hand will also help.
Meanwhile you can take anti-inflammatory drugs like Tylenol, motrin depending on the severity of the symptoms.
DMARD’s are the first line drugs in treatment of RA.
