Sternum Becoming Thicker. Going Through Menopause. Normal?

I have a friend that says her sternum is now thicker than before. She is menopausal and I have felt the difference myself. Is this something to be concerned with? I am a physical therapist and friend of this woman. There seems to be a definite change in the sternum. It seems to be more rounded and larger than before. She has not seen an MD.
