Started having receding hair line, dandruff problem. Can I use Minoxidil 5% ?

Hi I am AAAA. I have receding hair line which has just started and does not look that bad..but I have lost quite some hair on the top..the scalp can be seen there. The only issue I have with hair is dandruff . Which I have controlled to some extent. My dad has thick hair even now at 60. My age is 28. Do u suggest minoxidil 5% or do u have any other suggestion

Dermatologist 's  Response
It seems you are probably having androgenetic alopecia along with seborrheic dermatitis
To treat the same
Use a ketoconazole and tar based shampoo every other day( konaz ct shampoo). Once the dandruff clears off, use it once a week
Do not oil your hair as it flares dandruff
Apply minoxidil 5 percent solution over scalp. You may also consider taking finesteride tablet for better response. The time required for response to be seen is usually between four to 6 months. Once response is seen, treatment is needed to be continued for prolonged period. These medicines are prescription drugs and should be taken under a doctor's follow up.
Hope that solves your query.
