Started exercising, missed periods, having nausea, diarrhea. Negative pregnancy test. Causes for delay?

I missed my period last month but thought it was due to starting to workout again. I should be starting this week but haven t yet and I have been having nausea the past 4 days. The nausesea comes and goes and when it hits its really bad. I have had some diarrhea but not a lot. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I believe it may just be a stomach bug but I am not sure!

Thanks for your query.
Periods can be delayed by any stress (physical, emotional, infections etc) and pregnancy test may come false negative in first week.
However, nausea and diarrhea may constitute gastroenteritis. It can be caused by variety of bacterias, parasites and toxins. You need to check your hydration and take plenty of water and other fluids. If it dose not resolve within a week then visit your doctor and analyze a stool sample. Meanwhile perform blood HCG level to rule out pregnancy.
Hope it helps.
Take care!
