Genetics does have some role in etiology of squint. But its not easy to predict whether your child will have squint at birth. There are many normal children whose father/ mother had squint. There are many children with squint whose father/ mother were normal. We have to wait till baby is born. After birth, get an opinion from Pediatric Ophthalmologist. He will assess whether eyes are normal, whether baby has cataract. Retina expert will assess fundus of the baby to rule out any problem in retina, optic nerve, etc
