Spotting, Lower Back Pain, Delayed Periods, HPT Negative. Could I Be Pregnant ?

Hi! In late Jan. I had a normal period. Then in the beginning of Feb I began spotting for a few days. I had lower back pain & thought I could be pregnant. I began lightly spotting again at the end of Feb for a few days. Just went to my OB yesterday & did another urine pregnancy test & it was negative. I m still having lower back pain. My OB scheduled me for a pelvic ultrasound and blood work for next week. Could I be pregnant?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pregnancy tests look for the HCG hormone. Urine tests can normally pick this hormone by day 11 to 14 after conception and blood tests can pick it up earlier.

If the previous pregnancy tests were done after this time period and were negative then it is not likely that you are pregnant.

The ultrasound would be able to determine if there are any issues with the reproductive organs (ovaries, uterus, tubes, cervix) that could be contributing to your back pain.
IF nothing significant is seen on ultrasound and the back pain persists then you may want to consider an x ray of the lower back.

I hope this helps
