Spotting For 6 Days. Missed Yasmin Pill. Had Unprotected Sex. Cause Of Spotting?

I missed one Yasmin pill on Sunday 28th july, and took my pill as normal from the Monday (I will therefore only have taken 20 pills this month) and have been spotting for the last 6 days. I am finished my last pill on Monday 5th august and have been taking Yasmin for over 5 years now. I have missed pills in the past but have never spotted before. I have been having unprotected sex with my partner. What is causing the spotting to last? Could it be something more serious?

Thanks for posting your query. Yasmin is a good birth control method provided you have taken the tablets regularly without a break. If you miss your pill, you should have taken two pills as soon as you remember to maintain the hormonal levels. As this didn't happen in your case, you are spotting. There s a small chance of pregnancy, so if you don't get your period on time, meet your gynaecologist after waiting for a week(to check for pregnancy). If you get your period, make sure you restart your medication from the first day of your period to maintain the hormone levels so as to avoid the pregnancy in the next cycle.
Hope this helps,Take care !

Hi,
Yasmin is a contraceptive pill comprised of hormone.
Missing a pill disturbs the hormonal cycle which has caused the spotting. the missed pill must be taken as soon as one realizes the thing. (follow the instructions under 'Missed pill" on the pack.
The risk of pregnancy also rises if a missed pill is not replaced in time.
In case you get pregnant this month( the chances are less), you need to get MTP done, because of the possibility of fetal anomaly
Thank you.
