Sore To Touch Arm, Bruise On Elbow Where Arm Is Stretched. History Of Hurting Arm While Lifting Heavy Object. Advice
My daughter was cleaning and hurt her left arm when she lifted and carried a 105lb weight from the backyard to the front of the house to the garbage. Now her left arm is sore to the touch and has a bruise on the inside above the elbow on the inside close to her body below the elbow where she stretches her arm out. We're worried that something needs to be done, but we don't know what. Can you give us some advice on this problem?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
It does seems like an blunt trauma due to heavy weight, the bruise is clear sign of that, now soreness is the initial response, you need to give her a warm compresses if she can bare it. If not give her over the counter painkiller, and ask her to take complete rest.
Mean while try to get an appointment of near by physician or your primary care physician and have it checked. she may have deep shock wave injury and for checking it different diagnostic tests are needed. In case of any feel of shortness of breath or increase heart rate, please contact emergency services with out further ado.
Thanks, hope it helps. Dr.JAY PATEL
