Sore Throat, Lump In The Throat, Vomiting. Throat Ulcer?

Hi. I had a really sore throat and what felt like a lump down my throat when I woke up this morning. It's still there. I vomited about 5 times in the middle of the night. A mixture of food and bile. It tasted terrible. I often throw up if something doesn't sit right in my stomach, but I've never experienced this before. Can you let me know if this normal? I've read online that it could be a throat ulcer or inflammation. Can you let me know what it is and how long it should last for? Also, any remedies? Thank you

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

I rad your query regarding your sore throat and feeling of lump in throat and associated vomiting, you are suspecting it as throat ulcer.

On the basis of your symptoms I would like to tell you that you are having sore throat which may hurt you and give the feeling of discomfort, but the feeling of lump and vomiting is most likely is due to associated GERD ( gastro esophageal reflux disease ) because during vomiting you felt a terrible tast of vomitus which was food mixed with bile.

You may now take-

(a) Antacid with domperidone.

(b) Avoid spicy food.

(c) If smoker than avoid smoking.

I hope this will help you otherwise upper G I endoscopy will be necessary for you.

Regards.
