Sore Throat, Little Red Bumps At The Back Of Throat, Tender Tonsils, Burning Sensation Of Something Stuck In Throat. Opinion?
Ok, so Friday I had a sore throat and I thought I was getting Strep for a second time. I had little red bumps and the back of my throat. My tonsils were tender under my jaw and neck but I never got any white spots and no fever. I did have a really dry nose that would bleed a little, and some kind of mucus drainage in my throat and the feeling that something is stuck in my throat toward the bottom right side behind my tongue or tonsil and a burning sensation like acid reflux. The sore throat went away but little red spots at the back wall of my throat is still there along with the burning and kind of feeling that something is stuck in my throat.. what is this?
Hi and thanks for the query, What you describe is compatible with a bacterial throat infection. However this might need a clinical evaluation by your family physician. Pain, tender tonsils and the lesions on the tonsils are generally seen in Streptococal tonsillitis. the importance of treating early is to avoid spread and formation of abcesses which might require more invasive surgical drainage procedures. In some cases, persistence of this infection especially in children could exacerbate crises of rheumatic fever. It would be very appropriate to get a clinical evaluation to exclude other causes like Herpes infection and other vial infections that could present themselves in a similar manner. I suggest you book an appointment with your family care physician. thanks and best regards, Luchuo, MD.
