Sore throat, inflamed tonsils with mucus. Taken antibiotics. What is the remedy?

Hi there, I have had an ongoing sire throat with inflamed tonsils for three weeks now. I have had two courses of antibiotics which worked and then a few days after I stop the antibiotics it comes back. This time my right side of my throat is sore and gland is inflamed I can barely swallow and if I attempt to drink anything it just creates mucus. I don t know what to do?

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query .

I have gone through your query regarding severe sore throat and inflammed and painful tonsils. You have taken two rounds of antibiotics initially you got relief but it became helpless.

Considering your symptoms and responce of conservative treatment it appears as you are having chronic tonsillitis with recurrent infection.

Now it becomes necessary to carryout culture and sensitivity of throat swab to identify the causative organism and to find out antibiotic which will be most effective in your case. Thus your treatment will be plan with this new antibiotic and after the acute phase is over than tonsillectomy should be done to cure your problem.
