Sore Throat, Hurts To Talk And Swallow. Could It Be An Allergy?

I don t feel sick, by this morning my throat began to hurt like I got punched. It doesn t feel like a typical sore throat . Also, it sort of hurts like a muscle got sprained or pulled when I look to one side or the other. Do I need to go see a Dr.? Could it be an allergy? I can t think of anything unusual I ve eaten. Also, it hurts when I talk and swallow , but not in a typical raw way. Just pressure on te sore area that feels bruised

Hi

Welcome in H.C.M.

After considering the sequences of development of your symptoms it appears that you are having acute pharyngitis which is most of the times is viral but one should consider for other infective organisms as well.

For confirmation of disease and treatment plan you should do-

1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

2- X-Ray paranasal sinuses.

3- Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar- (F & PP).

Till the results of investigations are awaited you may take-

a- Tab Paracetamol.

b- Warm saline gargling.

c- Anti-histaminic.

I hope your query is being answered.

Regards.
