Sore throat, getting chills, hurt, pain in swallowing, swollen glands. What could it be?

Midday Wednesday, my throat started to be sore and I was getting chills. Thursday, my throat was sore and really hurt on the right side when I swallowed, I also had swollen glands, my ears felt like sound was dulled and my body was slightly achy. Today, both sides of throat hurt when I swallow, my glands are more swollen, the back of my neck aches and my ears are bothering me a bit. Any idea what this could be?

Hello dear...

All these symptoms suggest that you might be suffering from upper respiratory tract infection.

There is a connecting tract (known as Eustachian tube) between the nasopharynx & middle ear through which infection can spread to ear.

The management consists of:
1. Drinking of warm fluids to reduce throat pain
2. Antihistamines to provide symptomatic relief from cold.
3. Analgesics to take care of headache & fever(if any) will be better to consult an ENT specialist for proper physical examination & further management.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
