Sore Throat, Fever, Dizziness. Taking Medication. Recommendations?

I took Zicam oral mist at around 4 pm. A couple hours later I was expieriencing a fever. Its 9 pm the fever hasn't gone away I'm also experiencing a sore throat that has gotten worse after taking it. I feel co ld and I'm shakey like a flu. I'm dizzy and my early cold symptoms only increased. What should I do. It's 9 pm. And my doctors office is closed. Also everything I've eaten or drank has had a dull taste. I'm hoping that this is normal. im 20. I have one year old and I can't be stuck in bed.

Hi ! Most likely you are developing high fever due to your infected throat. If you have got some kind of anti-pyretic like paracetamol/acetominaphen, you can take one tab after meal and after checking your temperature. If you do not have any anti pyretic drug with you, then you can do tepid sponging of your body parts at home, which should help you upto some extent. However, if things are not improving, and your fever is increasing, then I would suggest you to report in the emergency room of your nearest hospital.
Wishing you an early recovery.

Hello dear,

The case history as mentioned in your post indicate that you might be having Pharyngitis.

Management includes:
1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain.
2. Analgesics like paracetamol 500 mg three times a day.
3. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity reports to remove the causative organism.
4. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra can also be used for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms still persist...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist.

Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.

Wish you good health & a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
