Sore throat, fatigue, cough, phlegm from nose, black specks and strings in sputum. Causes and treatment?

Hi, my name is XXXXXX. Two weeks ago, i came down with a bad cold . symtoms were a sore throat , fatigue , bad cough , body aches, etc. it never totally went away and i still have phlegm from nose and throat, SEVERAL times per day that a cough up and spit out. the phlegm has black dots and/or black strings in it 1/2 the time. I ve tried drinking lots of water, lots of rest, and eating very good. it will not go away. I m nervous because of the black in the stuff i cough up. can you advise me, please? Thank you! XXXX also, i m still fatigued and feel flu-like symtoms... they seem to come and go

Hi, in my opinion flu symptoms take almost takes a month to go but , as you say the black spots in phelgm is not a good sign. Needs to evaluated.
If I were your treating doctori would asked for blood work, sputum analysis, chest xray to rule out the cause.
Depending on thecreoort I would have treated you. But I would advise you to continue taking anti inflammatory and decongestant medication your symptoms of flu.
I woukd advise you to meet a physician and grt yourself treated.
