Sore Bumps On The Inner Thigh. Severe Itching And Burning. Shingles?

I am trying to figure out what these bumps/sores are, on my inner right thigh. it began with me at work, and i started to notice pain when i walked. i went to the bathroom, inspected my inner thigh (near my groin) and noticed a cluster of bumps. i had my girlfriend buy me gauze and wrap, and i wrapped it around my leg. the wrapping helps cushion the bumps against other things, so it is slightly helpful. but i started to worry because they werent going away or getting better.

my symptoms were intense burning/poking. i went to a lab and got bloodtested for genital herpes, and both came out negative. ive been with the same girlfriend in a monogomous relationship for 3 years, but i had maybe thought the herpes was just dormant. now im thinking it might be shingles. the first cluster came about 4-5 days ago. then started to notice another smaller cluster about 4 inches down. then, an area again, aroud 4 inches near, started to itch..but just a slight red rash was there. well, the second cluster is VERY itchy/burny right now, and has raised up, and the third cluster is started to form. the first original cluster, is very slowly seemingly getting better.

what could this be? i thought maybe shingles..because what i have i feel like was genital herpes. but since it wasnt, it must be shingles? im 23, male, and had chicken pox before. others say it doesnt really look like shingles.

hi there, your discription does fit that of shingles and it is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox so a history of chicken pox in the past is also pointing in that direction. Usually thses are self limiting conditions but for symptomatic cure you could apply lacto-calmine to the area, try and keep it drry, resist the urge to itch and use an anti-inflammaatory tablet and an antihistaminic to reduce the pain, inflammation and itching. These do have a tendency to get secondarily infected by bacterial contamination and it would be a good idea to start on a course of antibiotic if it does get infected or develops into pustules. If the problem does continue then visit your local GP and let him take a look and advise accordingly/ Take care.
