Smelly, Itchy, Watery Discharge, Cramping In Ovaries. Taking Provera For Irregular And Heavy Bleeding. D&C Required?

Hi, I was bleeding for 4 months if not more.. without including my irregular cycle from last year, I went to the Doctor told her about my symptons and she prescribed me with Provera, she ordered that I take 2 pills three times a day for 7 days and 2 pills for the remaining 21 days. However, I have experienced a lot of discharging that has changed from being smelly to itchy and a lot of moisture. What should I do? I didn't have this problem before and I'm a little bit uncomfortable about it. I have to wear panty liners all of the time. I have an appointment to see my doctor 3 days after I run out of the regimen. Is this discharge normal or not? Should I request a DNC? Im glad that provera stoped my period but in the process I have had some cramping in my ovaries periodically as if I am going to bleed. What can I do to get rid of this brownish odor?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Hormonal pills can cause side effects like increased vaginal discharge, abdominal cramps etc.
So possibly your symptoms could be due to this.
After completing the pills, you wait and watch.
If the symptoms subside no need to worry. And if the periods becomes regular you may not need D&C also.
But usually at-least three cycles of hormonal pills will be required to stop the bleeding. So after discussing with your doctor you can decide regarding this.
