Smell Of Ash In The Nose. Could It Be Due To Medication For Eye Infection?

I have a very heavy smell of ash or smoke in my nose continually. A few months ago, I was given some medicine for pink eye that I placed in my eyes several times a day for a week or two (I can't remember). I also can't remember the name of the medicine. Could placing this medicine in my eyes be the cause of the continual smell of ash in my nose?

Hi,

The eye drops given to you which you used for a week or two could be a very unlikely cause for your current symptoms. Firstly, does any one else get the ash smell or is it only you? There could be many causes for such smell including conditions in the nose (infections - particularly fungal), conditions affecting the receptors and nerves involved in the sensation of smell and other neurological conditions. You will need to visit an ENT specialist or a Neurologist for a thorough examination and appropriate tests as required.

Sreenivasan
