Small child suffered a fall, vomited, developed high fever. Symptoms of concussion?

Hello, my 2,5 year old son fell from a playground equipment. He did not have any symptoms of concussion right away but later in the evening he vomited and developed fever . We took him to the emergency room but the doctor could not concur the concussion just told us to monitor him. Since them three nights in a row my son develops fever at night 101.3. Could it be related to his head injury?

Thank you for your query,
The fever is not related to fall and head injury.
If there is concission, there will be mental changes after the fall like confucion, agitation, memory loss and alterations in sensorium.
Monitor for head injury problems like vomitings, alteration in behavior and if you find any abnormality report immediately.
For fever you can give Tylenol as prescribed and if fever is continuing consult your Pediatrician to find out the focus of infection and for basic evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query.

General & Family Physician Dr. Michelle Gibson James's  Response
Hi, thanks for using health care magic

The most common symptoms of a concussion are headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, problems with balance and blurred vision.
Fever is not a known symptom of a concussion and may be as a result of a coincident infective process.

He may be developing an acute viral illness and other symptoms may present.
You consider taking him to his doctor for a check up to determine what infection may be brewing.

I hope this helps
