Small Child, Passing Greenish, Watery, Foul Smelling Stools. On Formula Milk. Will Bifidus, Gramogyl Help?

my 5 month old baby is passing frequent bowel movements which are greenish in color, foul smell, water and gaseous. It has been 3 days. The no. of movements are 10-12 in 24 hr period. he is eating normal. has been vaccinated for rotavirus . he is on formula feeding. Doctor has prescribed bifidus, z+d syrup and gramogyl. Kindly advice.

Hi,
Since your baby is suffering from Gastroenteritis continue with the medications as prescribed by the docter.
See to it that he is kept well hydrated and passes adequate urine.Its good to know he has received the rotavirus vaccine.However there are multiple bugs which can cause diarrhoea and rotavirus will give protection against only serious rotaviral infection.You mentioned he is eating well, has he been weaned?If you are giving him supplementary feeds then you could also give rice kanji,thin curds and restrict his milk intake.
