Slight Irritation And Discomfort While Urinating. Urine Exam Does Not Show Infection. More Irritation After Taking Urifast And Flavoxate Hydrochloride. Reason?

My urine complete exam doesn't have a symptom of urinary infection. But I slight irritation and uncomfort when I urinate . I have this for the past one month even 3 litres of water. Yesterday I went to urologist she said urinary infection might came and settledown . Mayn't seetle properly. So she asked me to take urifast and flavoxate hydrochloride tablet for 10 days. Today I have more irritation than other days.Is the medicine creating problem .

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Both Urifast (Nitrofurantoin -antibiotic) and Flavoxate (urinary analgesic) are used to effectively treat Urinary tract infections. So there is no way that they can exacerbate your symptoms. Propably there could be someother cause for your symptomatology.

I suggest you to undergo an abdominal ultrasound examination to ruleout any other pathology.
