Hello qfirststar. I need to tell you that unfortunately, there is usually only treatment, not curative medications for chronic sinus disease and PND (post nasal drip). Some of the medications that have to be taken for lifetime, in lots of cases, include the cetrizine which is an allergy medication and will help stop post nasal drip. Nasal steroids are also another medication that may need to be taken on a chronic basis as well. The steroids help to decrease nasal swelling and also help to decrease post nasal drip. Unfortunately, none of these medications will "cure" sinus disease.

Sinus surgery is another avenue to be addressed. This can help with treatment of chronic sinus disease and can be very helpful if you have a deviated septum. However, having sinus surgery does not guarantee a "cure" either from the symptoms that you have described above.

Another avenue to explore would be seeing an allergist. See your family physician to discuss this option and for a referral.

Be well, Dr. Kimberly
