General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Sjogren's syndrome is known to reduce or stop secretions like saliva, tear, nasal secretion and has no known cure and no specific treatment to permanently restore gland secretion. Treatment is usually symptomatic and supportive.
She can use artificial tears for dry eyes, goggles to increase local humidity or have punctal plugs. Prescription drugs are also available that help to stimulate salivary flow, such as cevimeline (Evoxac) and pilocarpine. Nasonex is the mometasone intra nasal spray(steroid). She can use saline nasal drops daily before food to keep it moist. Consult your doctor for examination and management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Lohit

hi,
thank you for your query.

Sjögren's syndrome is a systemic autoimmune disease in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva.
Allergic disorders have been described in sjogren's syndrome.Allergic reactions are more common in Sjögren's syndrome patients who are anti-Ro positive.

it is generally advised in patients with Sjögren’s syndrome get a flu shot unless they are allergic to eggs, have had a reaction to the vaccine previously.

i would advise you to continue the same medication that your doctor prescribed and to add otorvin nasal spray to it.

apart from it the new research shows that multiple monoclonal antibodies might be useful. The most promising seemed to be the anti-CD20 rituximab and the anti-CD22 epratuzumab, while the anti-TNF-α and IFN-α seemed less effective.

thank you,
wishing you good health
