Sinus Headache, Burping, Stomach Hurts All The Time. What Might Be Wrong With Me?

I ve had a headache every day except 2 since April 10. I finally got in to see my doctor and he said it is a sinus headache. I believe something more is going on with me so I went to emerg on May 1. They could not find anything wrong with me. I have a headache almost every single day. I can t stop burping and my stomach hurts all the time. I m also hot/cold, colour leaves my face and I must sit down. I ve tried Tylenol , ibuprofen , aspirin and I have a prescription for Naproxen . I try not to take any meds unless I absolutely have to. My doctor ordered head x-rays but I don t get to see him again until May 16. I also have my son s wedding on May 25, which we are flying out on May 22. I must look well by that date or the airline will not let me fly. I also want to feel better to enjoy the wedding. I cannot function on a day to day basis. Little things like trying to co-ordinate a meal is impossible. Also some smells I find are overwhelming to me. Can you please think of what might be wrong with me and help me feel better. I am a female of 57 so pregnancy is out of the question and menopause has ended. Thank you.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
What is the type of headache?
Do you have any aggravating or relieving factor for this headache?
Do you have associated tears and running nose/ blurred vision?
Do you have past history of injury?
There are at least 15-20 types of headache have been defined and diagnosis is made generally on the basis of history defined by patient.
Migraine is the most common type of headache and Migraine is associated with pulsatile type of headache, gets aggravated by lack of sleep, exposure to noise and sun light, excessive tea and coffee.
Tears from eyes and running nose is a feature of tension headache and at times, two sub types of headache may be present in a single patient.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ neurologist and should go for thorough neurological check up.
You should also go for complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, CT/ MRI scan of head, ANA.
Treatment depends on exact diagnosis.
Meanwhile, you should take sumantriptan along with naprosyn, divalproex and propranolol on written prescription from your local doctor.
Take sound sleep and avoid excessive tea, coffee and chocolates if you are taking.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
