Signs Of Parkinson S, Tremor In Hands, Head While Speaking, Rigid Leg Muscles, cramps. History Of Lung Cancer Treated With Chemo . Visiting Doctor Needed?

63 year old male, lung cancer 14 years ago from herbicide exposure treated with chemo and radiation. Shows signs of Parkinson's, tremor at rest in hands, sometimes tremor in head when speaking, Rigid leg muscles after resting, difficulty initially getting out of chair but only for a moment. Leg cramps often while sleeping at night. Erectile dysfunction for many years. What type of doctor should be seen? If he feels like he doesn't have any urgency to see doctor because he is functioning fine in life at this time is there a medical reason that it is better to see doctor sooner rather than later

thank you for your query. rest tremors, particularly bilaterally assymetrical, with head tremor, muscle rigidity, bradykinesia(slowness of movement), inertia in initiating movement are features of parkinsonism, either primary (idiopathic) or secondary (parkinsonian plus syndrome, drug induced etc.)
In an ideal setting, parkinsonism is diagnosed and treated by a neurologist (DM in Neurology/ Neuromedicine) with the help of medications, or if indicated by Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS- a recent development). However, in absence of a neurologist, a General medicine specialist/Internist or a Psychiatrist can also diagnose and treat parkinsonism.
Parkinsonism is progressive deteriorating disease with no cure. Earlier the treatment is started, more is the chance of halting its progression early and improved prognosis.
hope i've been able to satisfy your query. if any further clarification is needed please dont hesitate to contact me.
