Side Effects Of Medicines For Fever, Cold, Cough Such As Calpol, Imol, Ibugesic Plus?

Dear Doc,

My daughter is 5.6 years old weight 15 kg. I have medicines list (and which i brought) for general kids health issues like fever, cough,cold, stomachache. I would like to know the side effects of perticular drug which our doctor gives everytime. or whcih medicines is good or bad I would like to give list of this medicines.

1. Imol (zydus alidac)-60 ml syrup
2. Calpol 120 mg -syrup
3. Phensedyl - 50 ml
4. Ibugesic Plus-60 ml
5. Meftal -P -60 ml
6. Febrex plus- 60 ml
7. Cyclopam - 30 ml
8. febrex plus-60 ml
9. Ampoxim-30 ml
10. metrogyl-F-60 ml
11.Combiflam-60 ml
12. Ibugesic plus-60 ml
13. Calpol-60mg
14. sinarest plus-60 ml

All are syrups. I would also like to know some doctors medicines are different than others.How can i understand that this medicines are good or bad for health. I can't go to child specialist every time. so i goes to M.D. consulting physician is it ok?.Please guide us.

Hi,
The list you gave are mostly for fever, body ache.
If require use one medicine only.
If given in proper dose for 3-4 days as and when required, have no side effect.
These medicines are, Imol, Calpol, Ibugesic plus, Combiflam, Febrex plus etc.
Antibiotic Ampoxin should be given for infection but after consulting your doctor.
Syrup Sinerstat is for cold and can be given having less side effects.
Avoid syrup Phensydil to children unless advised by your doctor.
Cyclopam is for pain in abdomen and can be given, it is safe.
Metrogyl-F is for dirrhroea and dysentery and can be given for 3-5 days.
But if problem persisted, avoid self medication and consult your doctor.
