Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My mom is 83 and her doctor has switched her from Cymbalta to Welbutrin. She is 100lbs and has been on antidpressants for 3 years with no success. she took her first 100mg dose this afternoon and felt dizzy and her legs felt shaky. Should she continue with antidepressants or stop given the fact she has had no success?
Cymbalta contains duloxetine and wellbutrin contains bupropion. Both are effective antidepressant. If she did not get response with cymbalta, then getting response with wellbutrin is also very less. In case, she is getting side effect from wellbutrin, then she could stop it. I would suggest, paroxetine in her case. It is very effectove antidepressant and has good response on depressive symptoms. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
