Should Insulin Dosage Be Increased Before The CT Scan For Pancreas?
i have been givsn prednsone 50 mg every 12 hours for a ct scan of my pancresswith 50 mg of benegrilljust before procedure my sugar is at 487 now and 1 hour away froom my next doze of 5 prednison tablets of 50 mg with my last doze 13 hours later the reason for this is that i am alerget ivp dye my consern can i incrise my insulin ssssssince i must take these drugs to be safe

Dear madam i can understand your concern.
In my opinion you should increase insulin dose
usually when steroids are started insulin dose need to be increased because there is a concept called steroid dependent insulin resistance.
this steroids like prednisone will increase the daily requirements of insulin by 30-50% more.
i suggest you to consult your treating doc and consider increasing dose of insulin as per his advise.
