Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts hat you have posted your father seems to have significant Gross Enlarged Prostate(124gms) and have been advised to take Tomsulosin once daily .

Tomsulosin is a smooth muscle relaxant that relaxes smooth muscles in prostate and bladder neck and helps to improve urine flow and has to be taken till one opts for surgery to remove enlarged prostate .

In view of his prostate being very large 124 gms I would suggest to consult
qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Considering his age (59 years comparatively young for this disease ) and large gland I would suggest him to undergo surgery of endoscopic resection of prostate (TURP) .

This is a gold standard surgery practiced world wide and gives good results .to have quality of life free from urinary symptoms for rest of the life
