hi this is ankoor..i hv a small polyp on my lyrings..so my voice get chocked up in the morning..and hv trouble talking..i had it 5 years back also n i got operated that time but now again is has come back..i dont want to get it operated this time for time being...so ENT has suggersted me PHLOGAM +CORTIMAX+CEPODEM O twice a day..with antacid syrup and tablet..should i continue with this ...i do drink and smoke.kindly help.
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, vocal cord or laryngeal polyp until unkess it is because of infection it will not reduce with any treatment. Surgery is the only option. alcohol doesn't seem to have been the cause. Smoking can cause it. Recurring polyp needs to be evaluated for cancer. If your doctor has suggested you with this treatment, then take it. It is antibiotics+steroids. If symptoms persists, then please get an laryngoscopic examination and biopsy of the polyp to rule out other causes like tuberculosis /cancer. hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
