Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2 year old son was jumping around like he does all day everyday, and he lost his balance and tripped and bounced the side of his head off the edge of coffee table and his right ear has a tiny cut and its swollen up and black and blue, should I be concerned? What should I do
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern. First be reassured that your kid is normal.
I will suggest you danger signs of head injury - 1. Vomiting continuously 2. Seizures 3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose 4. Unconsciousness 5. Altered sensorium or abnormal behavior.
If none of them are present, I don't think you should worry about his trivial head injury. For pain you can give oral Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly. For the bruise apply some ice packs and for cut apply some Povidone Iodine ointment.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
