Should I Be Concerned As My Mother's Head Is Trembling And Her Knees Are Like Rubber After Taking Medicine?

My 88 year old mother was prescribed sulfatrim for a bronchial infection. The dose was 2pills every 12 hours. She has just called me (unable to get through to Dr office) to tell me her knees are like rubber and her head is trembling. She has been on this dose since Monday. Should I be concerned. At this point I suggested she take no more... is this o.k?

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Yes, it could be having an allergic reaction, and it was right to stop.
2. Otherwise, too, if the condition is worsening, means sulfatrim is not working and new antibiotics needs to be substituted.
3. Ask her to have good hydration and nutrition and if there any difficulty in breathing to go to ER immediately.
4. Get a complete hemogram and also sputum examination. For antibiotic change, culture and sensitivity test necessary. Meet your doctor for tests and prescription of medication.
