Should I Be Concerned As My Leg Is Swollen After A Heart Cath?
My mother had a heart cath one week ago today. Everything has gone fairly normal except her leg has been swollen for several days. She was checked for blood clots with an ultrasound and was cleared... no blood clots. Is swelling normal, or should we be concerned? The swelling concerns her entire leg and foot. thanks for your help.
-leg swelling after cardiac cath. can orruc in 1-2% of patients -but it is usually localized and not that extensive as you say involving entire leg -better you should be in touch with your cardiologist -a repeat hemoglobin test will tell us if there is significant bleed -a doppler examination will tell us about any local problem
