Should I Ask My Doctor To Test Me For STIs And STDs?

i have epididymitis with no pain urinating, no discharge, no sharp pain. i am worried that it could be caused by unprotected sex.. but the last time was almost 9 months ago. have no blood in my urine or my semen. my Dr. prescribed ciprofloxacin for 10 days. 500 mg. as i understand this medicine is for bacterial infections.. should i still ask my doctor to test me for STIs and STDs

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

As you are not having the symptoms painful micturation, itching, foul smelling discharge and bleeding there is no point in testing for STIs.

The symptoms are suggestive of urinary tract infection for which your doctor has prescribed the course of antibiotics and this will settle your symptoms.

If you develop any of the aforementioned symptoms then you have to think about the lab investigations to confirm the presence of any STIs.
Thank you.
