Should Experiencing Rapid Breathing In A Diabetic Patient Worth Worrying?
My father is 86 years old and is experiencing rapid breathing, he is diabetic, his sugars have been running high lately in the 300s and seems tired alot - sleeps alot during the day. His BP is 110/80 with a
pulse of 72. Two weeks ago he was hospitalized with pneumonia. Should the rapid breathing be a concern?

Yes. I dont think it is related to diabetes but to his chest infection. Patient recovering from chest infection may face problems with oxygen saturation leading to rapid breathing. Please consult your phycisian regarding need for ABG -Arterial blood gas analysis. This will help you decide on the kind of supportive measures.
