Should Exercising Be Continued Despite Breathlessness, Chest Tightness And Pain?

Hi. I'm a 50 year old, overweight (not yet obese) female. I was diagnosed with asthma 10 years ago, but rarely need medication. I started walking on a treadmill to lose weight. If I run on the treadmill for one minute, 3 times throughout the 30 minutes I'm on the treadmill, I feel so bad. I can't take a deep breath and my chest feels very tight, not quite painful. I use my inhaler and sit for at least a half hour before I feel better. Should I keep excercising?

Hello,
I had gone through your question carefully and can understand your concern very well.

I would like to tell you that because you are having breathlessness, chest tightness and pain, i won't advise you to exercise further. I would suggest you to go for TMT and if required then go for angiography to rule out any kind of coronary artery blockage.

Because you are a known case of asthma, i would also advise you to ask your treating physician before doing cardio workouts. Instead you can do other exercises which does not bother you much like walking, jogging.

Hope this helps you and feel free to ask any of your further relevant queries.
