Should Tamoxifen Be Taken After Successful Treatment Of A Low Grade Tumor?
I have gone through treatment for grade 1malignant tumor of the breast no lymph nodes 1cm clearance radiotherapy complete my specialist is recommending tamoxifen but said probably wouldn't be alarmed if i decided not to take it. I am trying to make the best decision here but finding it too difficult. I am not happy about some of the side effects ... clots cancer of the uterus fluid retention weight gain and visual problems as i have a small concern already with my left eye.I just wonder if it is worth the worry of side effects for a low grade tumor that has been treated successfuly. please advise thank you!!
Hello dear. If your tumor was estrogen receptor positive then tamoxifen or some other hormonal agent is required for 5 years to prevent recurrence in opposite breast. It is must. Side effects are easily manageable . Risk of uterine cancer is very low. hope you understand Thanks
